Through a partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, STAR ECO Station in Culver City rescues and houses over 100 species of confiscated and abandoned exotic animals from around the world, including tropical birds, reptiles, wildcats and ocean life. Urban Garden Tours
The Music Center offers Urban Garden Tours, a new 45-minute tour that explores the nearly one-acre community garden at the Walt Disney Concert Hall at the Music center, with its 45 blooming trees and 15-ton delftware rose-shaped fountain, and explains how the garden was constructed 35 feet above the ground. More than 120,000 architecture enthusiasts have taken tours of the concert hall since it opened in 2003. Epicentre For Teens - Hesperia
The Hesperia Recreation & Parks District presents The Epicentre. The Epicentre is for teens between the ages of 13 (or 7th grade) and 17 years. Proof of age may be required. Fiddler on the Roof - Oxnard
Comedy Tonight Productions, the city of Oxnard's community based musical theatre troupe, is proud to announce the presentation of one of the most beloved musicals in the history of American theatre, Fiddler on the Roof. Zoo Open For Guided and Educational Tours
The Hesperia Zoo is open to the public on the weekends for "guided tours". They run every hour on the hour from 10am to 5pm. (Last tour at 4pm). Every Saturday and Sunday, you are invited to take a walk on the wild side, where they will enjoy a 45 minute guided tour by one of their knowledgeable professional animal trainers. They will get an up-close and personal experience with many domestic and wild animal actors from film, television and print ads. As we walk on our tour, you will be introduced to each animal, where we will discuss their natural adaptations, environment and tell you about recent commercials or movies they have been in. Moorpark Child Development Center presents Discovery Day on Saturday March 20th! Discovery day is a fundraiser for the Moorpark College Child Development Center to increase public awareness of developmentally appropriate programs. Meet the Grunion - San Pedro
On Wednesday, March 31st, join Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and Meet the Grunion! Watch the silvery fish come up on the beach to spawn! Learn about the interesting mating rituals and growth of this curious fish. The Aquarium opens at 8pm and an auditorium program begins at 9pm, followed by guided observation at the beach. Warm clothing and a flashlight are recommended. April and May are closed season. March, June and July are open season, when grunion may be taken by hand only and a valid California fishing license must be displayed if you are 16 years or older. The Method Fest - Calabasas
The 12th annual The Method Fest independent film festival, scheduled for March 25th - April 1st, in Calabasas, is looking for character and story-driven films featuring strong acting performances. The Method Fest features American and foreign feature films and short films and is named after "The Method" school of acting, which revolutionized the approach in acting, particularly in film. The 12th Method Fest will feature tributes to actors and top filmmakers along with acting workshops, panels and seminars. First Sunday at the Airport - Santa Paula
Every First Sunday of the month, come out to visit Aviation Museum of Santa Paula! Local aviation history comes alive on First Sunday at the Airport. The Chain of Hangars is open for you to explore from 10am until 3pm. Hangar Number One, tells the story of the founding of Santa Paula Airport in 1930, and that's just the beginning of the adventure. Each of these privately owned hangars in the Chain houses a variety of vintage aircraft and privately owned collections of various types of memorabilia from antique radios to racecars. Several other aircraft owners put their antique aircraft on static display and many vintage aircraft also fly in each month. Car Clubs also frequently grace our taxiways on First Sundays. The Museum Tram is available to save you some steps between hangars. The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 723 offers free airplane rides to kids ages 7 to 17. The Museum's Gift Hangar, located inside CP Aviation, offers a wonderful variety of toys and apparel for the airplane buffs of all ages. ACT/SAT Practice Test - Apple Valley
The Apple Valley Library is participating with Kaplan in hosting a Free ACT/SAT Practice Test to all students in the High Desert, on Saturday April 10th from 11-3:00 pm. The Results Workshop will be held the following Tuesday 04/13/10 from 4pm-5pm. A many students as possible are being encouraged to attend. The SAT- Scholastic Assessment Test and ACT- American College Test are geared toward Juniors and Seniors. All American Universities accept the ACT and most will accept the SAT.
